"Protector of the Woods"
by Leonard Peltier • Ojibwa/Lakota
(copy is on inside left, right side is blank)

"This painting was done from a photo taken at a powwow of one of the dancers. I knew I had to paint him when I saw the intensity of his expression and traditional outfit, I interpret him as a spirit alive in all Native Americans, protectors of nature."
 -The Artist

"Every part of this earth is sacred, every shining pine needle,
every sandy shore, every mist in the dark woods,
every meadow, every humming insect.
All are holy and sacred
in the memory and experience of my People."

-Chief Seattle
